This is an absolutely heartbreaking story that brings to light some of the cruelest realities faced by a frightening number of young people today… and in years past. I first read this book as one of those stories my mother insisted I read as a younger child, and I read it again as an adult. Both times I came away from the story with something different – but both reads were absolutely eye-opening. It is definitely filled with triggers. The story discusses love, date rape, and a diagnosis of AIDs that, unfortunately, brings an end to an all-too-young life. I highly recommend this as reading for all teenagers, young adults, and adults alike. Just make sure you grab a box of tissues and prepare yourself for a deeper level of thinking before you do.
The cover is moderately eye-catching and offers a moderately accurate depiction of what readers should expect to find inside the story.
